Staff absence or sickness insurance

Teaching and support staff sickness absences are covered by our policy including pre-existing illnesses - providing you with extensive but straightforward protection for your staff budget.

We recognise that different types and sizes of schools have different requirements. With Towergate Education, schools get a unique range of choice plus from 2010 absence due to jury service is now included with no additional charge.

Each policy is tailored to your school’s individual requirements - you choose:

• Categories of staff to cover
• Daily benefit
• Excess period of each category

For primary schools we offer either our EduCover Annual or EduCover Renewable policy. Providing you renew the EduCover Renewable policy the following year this will protect claims ongoing from the previous year.

Secondary schools and larger primary schools usually prefer our StopLoss self-insuring policy as a flexible solution for those employing larger numbers of teachers and support staff.

Our cover works by providing your school with a cash sum for each day a staff member is off sick.

• Daily benefit and excess requirements (e.g. £150 daily benefit with a 3 day excess period)
• Staff absence history for the past two to three years
