Maternity leave cover
Towergate Education’s maternity leave cover includes paternity
leave and adoption leave at no extra cost. You can cover all
staff who are covered on your staff
absence policy. Female staff aged over 45 and male
staff will also be insured but they are not charged for.
Daily benefit is based on what you chose for your staff absence insurance.
Maternity leave claims are eligible even if staff do not return
after the leave.
The key benefits are:
- Maternity benefit is payable up to 25 times the benefit
level
- Paternity or adoption benefits are payable up to 10 times the
benefit level according to the number of days of paternity or
adoption leave taken
Maternity leave benefits will be paid to you as a lump sum 18
weeks after the commencement of maternity leave or when the insured
person returns, whichever is sooner. It is paid pro-rata if a
person returns to work before 18 weeks has expired from
commencement of the maternity leave.
In the first year of cover benefit is not paid where the
expected date of confinement is within 32 weeks of the inception of
cover or the date the person joined the school.
Paternity leave and adoption leave claims will be paid when the
member of staff returns to work.
Note: Your school must first have an existing
staff absence policy in
force with us in order to have maternity leave insurance.
